Improper use of S.W.A.T. Teams

This writing assignment will be a policy paper in which you will select a topic to examine extensively and prepare a wellarticulated paper summarizing what you find. This is not an opinion paper!I do not want to hear your opinion on the topic and you will fail the assignment if you go down that road. You must be objective in your assessment of the policy of your choice based on the evidence presented. In essence, this writing assignment has little to do with yourdomain assumptions (personal beliefs
and value systems).

Instead, all conclusions and inferences should be restricted to those that are provided by the scientific and academic literature(i.e., peer reviewed journal articles).

For the final policy paper, you must use at minimum ten(10) valid references, of which six(6) are academic (i.e., peer reviewed / scientific articles),empirical sources.

Academic, empirical papers are those that are based on observed and measured phenomena (i.e., it analyzes data in some form) that is published in an academic journal.

Note that these sources are the bare minimum – those that typically do well on this assignment use more than the minimum.he paper must be in APA format (works cited, in-text citations, title page, etc., though an abstract is not required).
specific components of the assignment

•Overview & origins of the policy/program oThis includes a brief overview of how it came to be. You should discuss important legislation or cases (e.g., State or Supreme Court decisions) pertaining to the topic though for some, this may not apply

•Prior academic research on the topic regarding its efficacy/efficiency

•Current concerns, controversial perspectives associated with the policy/practice
