Unit Learning Outcome assessed:

Use clinical knowledge and skills to conduct a comprehensive mental health and physical health assessment and plan care for a person with complex health-related issue in a clinical environment.

For this assessment you are require to watch the video of a case study provided and address the following sections:

Introduction:

Write an introduction to the case study and state the focus of your assignment (2 Marks). Part 1: 1a) Using information from the video, describe Bernadette’s mental state by completing the following components of Mental State Examination (MSE) (10 Marks).

Remember most of the MSE constructs such as affect, mood etc. are dynamic and can rapidly change, that’s why the MSE should be a snapshot of what happened or how the person is presented in the interview. *Please note: This question relates to a mental health assessment interview and therefore in-text citations should only be from the video clip. 2a) Using the information from the video, identify the actual and potential physical health issues that is associated with Bernadette. Provide a rationale for each of the physical health issue you have identified (10 marks)

2b) List the nursing interventions that you would use to conduct a comprehensive physical health assessment of Bernadette. Provide a rationale each of your choice of intervention (8 Marks)

2c) Define metabolic syndrome and identify and discuss any three health promotion strategies that you would use to support Bernadette achieve a better physical health (7 Marks)
