Criminology Theories Essay
For your paper, you are to choose ONE theory of crime that we have learned about in your book. Once you have chosen your theory, you are to do the following:
1. Describe its tenets
2. Summarize one empirical test that supports the theory
3. Identify its strengths and weaknesses
4. Explain all policy implications
You will be able to find most of what you need (tenets, strengths and weaknesses, policy implications) in your textbook. As for the empirical tests, these come in the form of research on the theory that is published in journals.
Please see the article in this folder for an example of an empirical test of labeling theory.
In your summary of the empirical test, I want to see the research question, the methodological approach and the results described.
Note that your textbook makes reference to a number of empirical tests published in journals that you could consider finding and reading for yourself to use in this paper.
You will need at least seven (and probably nine) substantive paragraphs to answer this question thoroughly.
APA style must be used for in text citations and References.
