Correctional Facilities: Prison Institutions
For this week’s assignment, you will write about prison institutions at each of the three levels of the criminal justice system near your hometown or community: Local jails or correctional facilities, State Prisons and facilities, and Federal Penitentiary and related facilities
Describe each facility (local, state, and federal) in detail and in function, and also prepare some brief comments on what you find to be interesting or new to you about these facilities.
You will need to use Internet search engines and other resources available to you to locate information about these facilities.
If by the nature of your community or the resources made public to you locally, you are not able to complete this assignment at all three levels of corrections, please provide as much information as possible.
If you are from outside the US or involved in the military, please be creative in your completion of this activity essay and discuss the correctional facilities near you.
Some suggestions in completing this essay assignment include discussion of classification of prisoners, details on physical security, and the types of offenders and sentences served at each facility.
