Create an instruction manual for a technical device or procedure in your own field. The
instruction manual should be for a specific process, task, or product. The manual should use
specific technical skills you are currently developing in your other classes and/or have used in
your profession. Note: You cannot use a cooking recipe or create a cookbook. These instructions
should be relevant and informative for your intended audience, and must include all of the
following elements:
•Clear and limiting title•Informed content
•Descriptions and specifications
•Visuals (Diagrams, Icons, Illustrations)
•Appropriate level of detail and technicality
•Logically ordered steps
•Notes, hazard notices, safety information
•Sections, headings, appendices
The manual assessment will be based on the technical proficiency of the instructions, the quality
and readability of the introductions, transitions, and safety information, the functionality of the
instructional visuals, the effectiveness of the design (visual layout, readability), and the logical
strengths of the steps, sequences, and transitions.
MY INSTRUCTIONS:
This assignment is to create an instructional, technical manual. Essentially, it’s writing directions
for a product or procedure. I have chosen to create my manual on HOW TO CLIP YOUR PET
BIRD’S WINGS. Create a step-by-step, detailed guide on how to clip the wings on one’s pet bird.
Note that the instructions for this assignment mention including visuals such as diagrams,
illustrations, etc. Including these would be extremely helpful, though it is okay if you are unable
to. If you cannot include them for whatever reason, I can simply do it later. In the additional
materials, I’ve included a copy of the professor’s instructions as well as some helpful links to
